Sick With Dog / God

Sometimes loss is endless. I learned about the long span of death when my mentor died some years ago. When people would ask me how he was doing I would say, “He’s dying from cancer.”

But months later, I was still saying the same. It was then that I better understood that loss is a lifelong process. Sometimes loss is something that lasts for years, decades. Just when loss has depleted the pit of the soul, it continues.

Jennifer: You bring up that Carl Jung asks us: “What is your myth—the myth in which you live?”  Why is it important for us to explore this question? 

Susan: Myth in this question refers to the pattern of meaning that we find in our lives. How do we relate to life’s mystery? Each of us has their own myth. Jung felt as a young adult that he no longer lived in the Christian myth. He had to find his own myth. So must each of us.

Premonition is our first publication… a small book of poetry by Paula Amen Judah with accompanying illustrations by Christopher Clother.  In this collection Amen Judah considers her own story in the formative images of her childhood. Her writing is visceral and warm, embracing loveliness and violence intertwined. A former counselor and teacher, she shows in her work a willingness to be frank and gentle with herself, as well as with others.
